Photo: Striped bass caught now are as healthy as they have ever been due to a bumper crop of shad. Stripers are selecting threadfin shad in the main channel and saving gizzard shad next to shore until later in the year. Cooler temperatures allow stripers to come to the surface to feed on shad that have been hiding in the warm surface waters. Boil fishing should be good through October.
