Lake Powell Elevation: 3558.98 feet
Smallmouth and largemouth bass have slided deeper and we are still catching the 1-2 lb. smallmouth in 10-30′ of water trolling and tubing as well. The better reports of largemouth have been from the San Juan Arm. For us an overcast morning on zara spooks has been very good. Walleye? I don’t usually talk walleye but more reports this year from anglers is good and we have caught a few as well as we usually stumble on to a few fishing for everything else a couple a day is the average. These are Judy’s favorite!
Stripers everywhere? Yes there is a large amount of spawners thin to average and there for the pickings and if you are like me who prefer the fatter ones? Then, you have to hunt “troll” and take home fewer fish but quality fillets that have that fir pinkish hue to them instead of that washed out pale think look on the corners with the flavor as well. We are seeing hundreds of them being cleaned at the fish cleaning station at Wahweap Marina, plugging up the station or tossed in the trash.
Stripers on the Fly is awesome for us with fat fish so if you need a guide to get dialed in? Give us a call and we will point you in the right direction if you are on your own. I have had many so far this year and each days has been amazing. With the summer here, I will be doing 4 hours $650.00 for 1-2 anglers and 6 hours $750 1-2 anglers additional anglers are $25.00. The fish go down once that heat is upon us.
From Judy: If you are here for a few days and want to enjoy any of the the other excursions in Page or your family does? Contact her at the Page-Lake Powell HUB Official Visitor Center (928-608-5749) and she can book all tours offered in the area. Often times the tours book out and there is nothing available. They also book directly with the tour company so no middle man and higher prices.
I am launching this year from Antelope Point which is very acommodating to our guests with a cart ride right to the boat! Doesn’t get any better than that.
Give us a call if you want to lock in a date and especially for Fall as we will book out fast.
Father’s Day is coming up, so Gift Certificates are available and good for 1 year. Contact Judy at 928-606-5829 if you would like to purchase.
Here is a taste of the last week or so!
Tight Lines,
Capt. Bill
