Lake Powell Fishing Report November 11, 2018

Lake Powell Fishing Report 11-11-18 Lake Powell Elevation: 3587.88 When the nightly colder winds blow and the days are calm…that’s the best time to “fly fish” for stripers especially if you can hit the water on that 2nd, 3rd, or 4th following day until the next cold front. First day after is the usually very tough so sometimes it a fishing day but not a good catching day. We have about 3 weeks left for using Castle Rock Cut which get us to our fishing Read More +

How do you like to catch them? If fly fishing May & June in the back of canyons I recommend in the the south half and sometimes in early July for Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report & Specials 10-25-15

Lake Powell Elevation: 3606.46 Dear Anglers, Huge schools of bait fish have migrated to the backs of canyons with stripers and other fish staging at the entrance.  Trolling and jigging is the norm on stripers and tubes for the small and large mouth bass in 20 to 30 ft of water. Fish can be finicky one day and then binging the next on your offering due to the enormous bait fish population. Winter fishing will be better this year also so you can beat the Read More +

Lake Powell April Fishing Tip April 4, 2015

Dear Anglers, My tip for fly fishing (#flyfishing) stripers in back of canyons at Lake Powell.  I like a fast 7-8 wt. rod wit a fast sink 15′ sink tip, 4′ leader and 15 lb. tippet and 3″ crawfish flies with chartreuse and white clauser flies.  If the stripers are feeding, you want a fast retrieval and a tarpon set (scissor set) and watch that rod tip when your landing so not to high stick the rod tip. Tight lines, Capt. Bill
