Lake Powell Winter Fishing Report – Captain Bill McBurney

Happy 2026

Fishing Lake Powell in the winter time is special for us because there are very few if any crowds you do not have wave-runners, no wakeboards and no houseboats!  Catching has it’s challenges with the best warm sunny days of the week during the winter storm cycles.  It is fishing with a few fish to a dozen on a half-day charter.  We do a late start to let Lake Powell wake up!

The winter striper yearling is 1-3 lb. fish are delicious being cold water active feeders on shad and cray-fish.  Like most species, weather and moon phases will make ore break the catching but on Lake Powell, the fish are the bonus after the scenery and slow trolling keeps that action constantly changing.

I have attached photo and video of our customers 2 weeks ago and you can see how we were solo!  We had a great 1/2 day charter.  If you are passing through this winter, schedule a 1/2 day with us on the most scenic Lake in the world “Lake Powell”.

Now booking for Spring Fishing 2026 so get your date locked in.  We have not changed our rates this year so staying with the economy.

Tight lines,

Capt. Bill McBurney
