Lake Powell Elevation:  3598.09 Water Temp: 74 degrees Nice Catch Fish 9-12-2020 All species are doing better with the cooler 74′ degree weather vs. th 88′ degree temps this summer.   We are catching fat healthy these past few weeks trolling deep and running X2 bombers. When crossing a submerged school in the holding pattern then we chum and fish anchovies.   The op water bite for bass is early ,light and good till the rising sun hits the water and then concentrate on shaded canyons. Lake Powell Fishing Report February 15, 2020

High points – Low points to Pre-Spring Fishing on Powell   It’s all about the water temps, the moon phase, your approach and then the secret “luck of the draw”. For us locals and guides that finally get to fish “without customers” is the warming of a few consecutive nights and days by as little as a few degrees.  It doesn’t matter if your bait drop shotting, anchovies at a 100′, trolling, jigging or even fly fishing the shallows where stripers will run in Read More +

Water Temps:  82-83   Troling early morning hours is producing nice strippers from sun up to early noon.  Some bait spots still producing but with more shad. Movement of schools of strippers are moving about Lake Powell. Smallmouth are in the 30-40’ range on jigs. You might catch a Wlleye or two!  Cat fishing is good and evening are best. Waiting for cooler water for top water action on this end of Lake Powell hopefully September.  Fall bookings are coming in fast so Read More +

Lake Powell Fish Report – September  21, 2016 Lake Elevation: 3611.26 Water Temperature: 73 – 75 F I made it back on the water this week after successful knee surgery.  My doctor suggested using the knee as much as the pain would allow.  I thought I should do more to hasten healing, so I incorporated my own plan for “fish-ical” therapy.  I can highly recommend my techniques for improving knee strength and movement which include: trolling while sitting down with the knee elevated.  (I Read More +

Lake Powell Fishing Report August 7, 2016 by Capt. Bill McBurney

Lake Powell Elevation 3617.43 Lake Powell water is 84 degrees in the shad which means you to be patient and persistent over deep water anchovie fishing 50-100′ and then it is a soft pressure bite mainly.  Lake Powell is at a good level for shad to take refuge in the bush and the back of canyons.  I anticipate a good Fall and Winter for catching stripers.  Smallmouth in the the hot weather are around the 25-40 feet depth and you want the bait scratching the Read More +
